Who Is Sharla McBride?
Sharla McBride is an American television journalist known for her work in news and sports broadcasting. She has spent many years covering important events, interviewing guests, and presenting live television programs. Her career began in local television before she moved into larger media markets. Over time, she developed experience in both traditional news reporting and sports journalism.
McBride studied at the University of Georgia, where her education included international affairs and broadcast journalism. This background helped prepare her for a career that requires research, communication, and quick thinking. Before joining Newsmax, she worked for television stations serving audiences in Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. Her professional experience gave her the skills needed to handle national news coverage. Today, she is recognized for her role on Wake Up America, where she helps viewers understand major stories affecting the United States.
When Did Sharla McBride Join Newsmax?
Sharla McBride joined Newsmax in October 2023 after working at WUSA9 in Washington, D.C. The opportunity allowed her to reach viewers across the country rather than serving only one local television market.
The move was a major professional milestone. McBride had already spent approximately 17 years building her broadcasting experience when Newsmax announced her arrival. She brought knowledge from local reporting, sports coverage, and live news presentation. Her transition also showed how journalists can develop new opportunities after working in regional markets. The network gave her a platform to discuss national politics, breaking stories, and public issues. Her role later developed as the morning program introduced changes to its presenting team.

Morning television requires presenters to handle many subjects within a short period. They may discuss government decisions, economic developments, elections, or major international stories. McBride’s broadcasting experience helps her guide these conversations and introduce guests to the audience. She works alongside Marc Lotter, who brings a background in political communications. Their different professional experiences help shape the show’s discussions. Although television schedules can change, Newsmax continues to identify McBride as one of the program’s regular presenters.
Why Do People Think Sharla McBride Left Newsmax?
Questions such as is Sharla McBride still on Newsmax can arise when viewers notice changes in a television program. News networks regularly adjust schedules, replace temporary hosts, and introduce new presenters. These changes sometimes create confusion, even when a familiar journalist remains employed by the same organization. A viewer who misses several broadcasts might naturally wonder whether an anchor has moved elsewhere.
Another possible reason is the changing history of Wake Up America. McBride originally presented the show with Rob Finnerty. Later, Finnerty moved into the network’s evening programming, and Marc Lotter became McBride’s co-host. Viewers familiar with the earlier team may have noticed the change and searched for an explanation. However, a change in presenting partners does not mean that both anchors have left. There is no reliable evidence establishing that McBride departed Newsmax in 2026. The available records continue to identify her as a regular morning host.
Sharla McBride and Marc Lotter on Wake Up America
Sharla McBride and Marc Lotter form the presenting team associated with Wake Up America in 2026. Their partnership followed a network programming change in 2024. Her responsibilities included presenting evening broadcasts, covering local developments, and reporting on sporting events. These experiences helped her develop the confidence needed for live television. They also allowed her to connect with viewers through stories affecting their communities.
McBride later worked at WUSA9, a CBS-affiliated television station in Washington, D.C. This position placed her in a major American news market, where she continued building her professional experience. She also worked in sports broadcasting, including a role with NBC Sports Philadelphia. Her varied background helped prepare her for national television. By the time she joined Newsmax in 2023, she had already spent many years learning how to report accurately, communicate clearly, and respond to unexpected developments during live broadcasts.
Sharla McBride’s Education and Early Life
Sharla McBride was born in Austin, Texas, on December 28, 1984. Her early life helped shape her interest in communication and broadcasting. She later attended the University of Georgia, where she studied international affairs and subjects related to broadcast journalism. Her education provided a foundation for understanding public issues, communicating information, and working in professional news environments.
Her educational background is especially relevant to her current television work. National news presenters must understand complicated topics and explain them in simple language. They also need strong interviewing skills and the ability to ask meaningful questions. McBride developed these abilities throughout her education and professional career. Although viewers often focus on her current television appearances, her success reflects years of preparation. Her journey from university studies to local broadcasting and national television shows how experience can create opportunities in the competitive media industry.
How Sharla McBride Became a Recognized Television Journalist
Sharla McBride’s career shows the importance of experience and professional growth in broadcasting. She did not begin her career as a national television personality. Instead, she developed her skills through local news assignments, sports coverage, and anchoring responsibilities. Each position offered new challenges and opportunities to improve her reporting. Her ability to work across different subjects became an important strength as her career progressed.
Recognition also followed her professional work. Her journalism profile identifies her as an award-winning broadcaster, including Emmy, Associated Press, and SAG-related recognition. These details reflect her long involvement in the television industry. However, professional recognition alone does not explain why audiences follow an anchor. Viewers also value clear communication, consistency, and familiarity. McBride’s years of regular television appearances helped her develop those qualities. Her move to Newsmax expanded her audience and introduced her reporting style to viewers across the United States.
Has Sharla McBride Announced Plans to Leave Newsmax?
Another common question is whether Sharla McBride has announced plans to leave her current television position. As of October 2026, there is no verified public announcement establishing that she intends to depart Newsmax. The network continues to include her in its morning programming information. Recent reporting also confirms her involvement with Wake Up America during September 2026.
It is important to separate confirmed facts from online speculation. Television personalities sometimes change jobs, take leave, or explore new professional opportunities. However, these possibilities should not be presented as actual developments without reliable evidence. There is currently no confirmed departure date or publicly verified replacement announcement for McBride. Anyone searching is Sharla McBride still on Newsmax should therefore avoid treating unsupported online claims as established facts. Her future career decisions remain her own, and any major change should be confirmed through an official announcement or credible reporting.
Where Is Sharla McBride Working Now in 2026?
Sharla McBride’s current professional role remains connected with Newsmax in New York. Her verified journalism profile identifies her as a co-host of Wake Up America. Her professional information also lists previous experience at WUSA9, WNEP-TV, and NBC Sports Philadelphia. These details are consistent with the network’s published programming information and her established broadcasting career.
For readers asking is Sharla McBride still on Newsmax, the available information provides a clear answer. She remains listed as a Newsmax presenter rather than an anchor who has officially moved to another television network. Her recent appearances also support this conclusion. It is possible for individual television episodes to feature guest presenters or different hosting arrangements. Such changes should not automatically be interpreted as a permanent departure. The most reliable way to understand her current position is to consider the network’s official schedule alongside recent, dated broadcast records.
What Makes Sharla McBride Popular With Viewers?
Sharla McBride has built an audience through her experience, television presence, and ability to cover different subjects. Her background in sports journalism and general news reporting gives her experience with several broadcasting formats. This versatility is useful on a morning news program, where discussions can move quickly between political events, public issues, and interviews with guests.
Another important part of her career is consistency. Television audiences often develop familiar routines around morning programs. They recognize the presenters who introduce daily headlines and guide discussions. When a familiar host is missing, viewers may immediately notice the difference. This helps explain why people search for updates about McBride’s employment. Her professional visibility has made her a recognizable part of Newsmax’s morning lineup. However, popularity is difficult to measure without reliable audience research. It is more accurate to describe her as an established television journalist than to make unsupported claims about her personal ratings or audience size.

Viewers who want to follow Sharla McBride can watch Wake Up America through Newsmax’s television distribution services. The network’s published schedule lists the weekday program beginning at 7:00 a.m. Eastern Time. McBride and Marc Lotter are identified as the show’s co-hosts. People who cannot watch the program live may find selected interviews and news segments through Newsmax’s digital platforms. However, not every television segment is guaranteed to remain available online. Viewers should also remember that schedules can change because of special coverage, holidays, or major breaking news. Checking the latest official programming information is the best way to confirm a broadcast. For anyone asking is Sharla McBride still on Newsmax, watching the current morning lineup provides another practical way to follow her ongoing television work.

Predicting her next career move would be speculation. She could continue working in national television, pursue other broadcasting opportunities, or eventually take on different professional responsibilities. However, no confirmed announcement establishes such a change. Her established experience gives her a strong professional background, but it does not guarantee any particular future position. Readers wondering is Sharla McBride still on Newsmax should focus on confirmed developments rather than predictions.
